Not one of my best samples, but I haven't RPed with her in years, literally. Since there's already an "Echo-" name, I can change it, if you'd like.
Echofur
Clan:
BrookClan
Rank:
Deputy
Age:
65 moons
Gender:
She-cat
Appearance:
Echofur is not the biggest cat, not by a long shot. But at the same time, she's not the smallest either, although she is closer to these cats as opposed to the latter. Piercing amber eyes sit above a mauve colored nose, with long white whiskers extending from the sides. Her pawpads are the same mauve color her nose is. Her body is long and slender, with equally long legs that are perfect for running. She can reach very high speeds that might even give a ZephyrClan cat a run for their money.
She has short, sleek fur that clings to her body, adding to her slim appearance. As it is not very thick, it doesn't absorb much water; if she ever has the oppourtunity to get wet, that is. Because she's a BrookClan cat, she is an adequate swimmer, and is able to catch fish if the need ever arises. But her fishing and swimming skills are nothing like the cats born of BrookClan have.
Her fur is a very light grey, with a slight silver undertone, which gives her a silvery appearance. Along her back are black stripes, that can look to be a dark blue in some lights. The fur on her stomach is a smokey white. However, in comparison to her grey fur, it looks almost like snow. The fur on her chest is the same shade. She has one faint scar running down her left flank.
Personality:
Despite the fact that Echofur is leaning towards the small size, there is a sense of pride and power when you first meet her. Such is so that most cats forget about her size almost immediately. Everything about her screams self-confidence. Even if she were to be captured by an enemy clan, and brought before the scornful glares of their cats, she would hold herself with dignity, no matter what the circumstances. This is not to be mistaken with conceit, because it is far from that.
With her, everything is business-like. She'll put her duties to her clan above her individual needs and wants, and she feels others should do the same. Therefore, she gets angry when she sees cats slacking off when the fresh-kill pile is low, or when the camp is in need of repairs. If a cat is in front of her with nothing to do, she'll be sure to find them a job, even if it's ridding the elders of ticks, or changing their bedding.
But once you get past her stern exterieur, she's really a friendly cat. It just takes a lot of digging to find. She has slight trust issues, so she rarely confides in anyone. She puts on a "I hate everyone and everything" front to hide and find shelter within herself. It takes a while for her to get close to someone because she's always afraid that she'll lose them, and it takes a long while for her to get over those kind of things.
She has a horrible temper, and a very sharp tongue, so watch what you say to her. It's extremely hard to predict her moods or how she'll react to a statement. It could be the most innocent thing, and it sets her off. She was always like this, but it just worsened once her mentor died. Echofur has little patience for ignorance and stupidity. Most often she'll get into verbal fights and leave because she can't stand arguing with simple-minded beings.
But besides her rough outward personality, she's a loyal cat to those who are her friends, and her clan as a whole. She has learned that the warrior code prevent trouble and disappointment, and she follows if to the letter. She has earned respect, and she intends to keep it that way.
History:
[Before Birth]
This story begins way before Echofur was even thought of. This includes the story of her parents, and it's only through this that we can thoroughly understand Echofur. We'll start with her mother.
Blue was a prized showcat, a Russian Blue to be precise. She also was bred constantly, trying to produce the perfect cat. Now, this kind of life get tiresome, especially to one who was in it from the start. Her owners pampered her of course, making sure she was always in perfect shape. But Blue didn't enjoy the kittypet life, and eating gourmet cat food. She never got to feel the wind through her fur, and she was always being prodded and poked by judges. After every litter, her time with her kits was shortlived. So she ran off.
Now cue Echofur's father. Mana was a rogue with an odd way of recruiting cats. He'd meet a she-cat who's looks suited his fancy and sweet talk her into liking him. He'd then mate with her and help her care for the kits until they were old enough to survive without her. While they grew up, he observed their growth, and he chose the one who had the most potential. He'd then kill the mother, and all the siblings. The kit, who would be most distraught, would turn to him for solace; the perfect system. Many of the kits would leave him and go on their own eventually, and he was fine with that. They would be fine fighters on their own and if he ever needed help, he was sure of their loyalty to him.
When he met Blue, he was intrigued by her. Mana had never seen another cat whose beauty compared with hers. She was perfect. He would regret the day when he's have to end her life.
[Kithood]
So, Blue and Mana had a litter of kits. Echofur was the first-born - then named Silver - and Mizer, her brother, was the second, and last born. But Mana's normal plan didn't work out too well. For one, both Silver and Mizer were almost even. Silver was smart and fast; there was no doubt that she would be a superb fighter. Mizer took after Mana in his charm, he could fake it easier than he could fake a smile. Also, he was growing too attached to Blue, and knew he wouldn't be able to kill her.
The idea came to him in a dream. He wouldn't kill anyone, just say that they were dead. He would take Blue and keep her under guard in his personal quarters. She would serve as a wonderful queen. He would seperate the two siblings and have them sleep in sperate areas. Mizer would be taking over for him in later days, and Silver would be trained as a fighter. Perfect.
Mana's plan went downhill shortly. Silver, who by now had learned the basics in swimming, fishing, hunting and fighting, had gone to visit Mana in his den, and had scented her mother. She was told that she had died moons ago. She started to fear that Mizer was also alive, and that she had been lied to by her own father. Disgusted, she ran away.
After travelling for a long time, she collapsed. She ended up on BrookClan territory, and was found, cowering, by a patrol. She was brought to camp. Not too long after, she had asked to join the clan. Once they found out how much knowledge she already had, they reluctantly agreed. She was made an apprentice at the late age of 10 moons.
[Apprenticeship]
Silver was now renamed Echopaw, as a result of her constant echoing. She had to work twice as hard and twice as long than any other apprentice, just to get treated with half the respect that they did. Everyone knew she was a half kittypet, half rogue, and no one let her forget that. Eventually at 20 moons, she was trusted enough to become Echofur.
[Warriorship]
Now even though Echopaw, became Echofur, she was no more respected than she was when she first joined the clan. Slowly they began trusting her a bit more, but she was still treated as an outsider. All of this changed when an enemy cat trespassed on their territory. He refused to leave, so she attacked. He gave her the one scar down her flank; she gave him many more to remember her by. Since then, the clan has respected her, to an extent. There will always be critics, critisizing her heritage.
[Deputyship]
Because of that, it came as a big surprise to her when she was appointed as deputy. For a long while, she believed the entire clan hated her. Since she became deputy, not much has really happened.
RP Example:
Silver was really excited. While hunting today, she had managed to catch a crow. She wasn’t going to eat it or anything, but it was a huge accomplishment for her. The crow was nearly twice her size. So, of course, she was running off to tell her father about this. She wrinkled her nose slightly. He wanted to be called Mana. His words still rung clearly in her head and still stung slightly. She was his daughter, why couldn’t she act like it? It wasn’t fair.
Normally he, or Mana, would be training her to hunt and fight, but he was busy with something, so some other cat filled in. She didn’t know the name - apparently it wasn’t important. By now she was used to this. None of these cats would ever tell her their names. It was stupid. She never knew how to talk to them or what to say, but maybe that’s what it was meant to be like. It wasn’t like she really cared, but sometimes it made her wonder.
Only now did she realize that she actually stopped to actually think about this. Now wasn’t the time to waste on stupid thoughts that didn’t matter. She began running again, the green foliage around her head blurring. Mana told her to never come to his sleeping quarters, but wasn’t this important enough? Her pace slowed gradually, first to a gentle jog, then to a brisk walk as she got closer and closer. Now she was barely moving at all, thinking to herself that maybe, just maybe, this wasn’t a good idea after all. But she kept moving, figuring that if she came this far, there was no turning back. Suddenly she stopped. She sniffed the air once, then twice. Then she bolted.
She was running again, no longer at a leisurely pace, but at a full out sprint. She couldn’t get away fast enough. All she could think about was getting away from that ... that monster. How could he do that? She trusted him. Not paying much attention to her footing, she tripped over a root protruding from the ground. Oof! She collided roughly with the earth, and she stood up carefully, cursing that root. Then she looked up.
A cat was standing in front of her. A cat that she now hated was standing in front of her. A cat that was called Mana was standing in front of her. She froze, her amber eyes wide with fear. Identical eyes stared right back at her. “Silver,” he cooed, his voice the same as always, calm, cool and sinister - something she had never noticed before. His voice was sinister. He went on. “I was looking for you my dear. We were just about to eat.” Silver didn’t respond. The sight of her father, the one cat she once looked up to, terrified her. Instead she crouched down low, counted to three, and shot off.
She was back at full sprint, keeping an eye on both the ground and ahead of her. She didn’t want to fall once more. Footsteps were behind her, or at least she thought they were, but she kept on running. She still couldn’t believe it.
Back in Mana’s den, she smelled something she shouldn’t have. It was a scent familiar to her, a scent she couldn’t ever forget. It was her mom. Not only that, but it was fresh. Mana had told her quite a while ago that both Blue, her mother, and Mizer, her brother, were dead. But it wasn’t true. Her mom was definitely alive. If Blue was still alive, maybe Mizer was too. Still, why would Mana lie about this?
So she ran and she ran. Even when the sound of the footsteps faded, she kept on running. The forest around her grew darker slowly, and still she ran. She ran until her paws ached and she could barely breathe. And finally she stopped. The forest had disappeared, she now noticed. Now she felt safe. Now she could rest. Now she was ... Her legs gave out underneath her from sheer exhaustion. Never had she run that far, that fast in her life. She was asleep before she hit the ground.
