an apprentices ceremony ._ashpaw / ._blizzardpaw Roaringstar had set this duty off for a while, and he was aware of that. There were a couple of apprentices that had not yet been granted mentors and it was about time that he gave them the chance to become warriors. It was foolish of him to be forgetful at times like these, but it was in the nature of the golden-brown man to have things slip his mind on a constant basis. He decided that that had to be something done about this. And that was why he was pacing below the Highrock, hoping that the Clan would be almost completely filled with warriors at this time of day. It was about sun-high now. Others had to be slinking around or padding out on hunting patrols. He dearly hoped that they were all inside of camp. All of them.
He glanced around once, twice, before deciding that it was time that he hopped along onto the rock. And so his muscles stretched, his coat rippling as his claws jaggedly pressed upon the cold stone. The chill of leaf-bare was escaping the air now, though still he could feel its lonesome grip on his coat. New-leaf breezes had thawed him away from the cold moons before, but he knew that his favorite season was still green-leaf. He'd just have to impatiently await the moments when that time would come again.
"May all Clan cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here, beneath the High Rock!" his voice echoed out through the shuffling of the camp, and he saw beneath him the poking of heads from the dens. So that was where they had been! He almost laughed at this, seeing as though he had been nervous that everyone was outside at this time of day. But, they had just been sleeping inside of their dens. It was silly of him to think that they would be anywhere else.

"May all Clan cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here, beneath the High Rock!"
Dewleaf had been hunting, and had just barely heard the words Roaringstar called to start a Clan meeting. She frantically searched around for the dead squirrel she had buried before. Where was it? A clump of freshly overturned dirt met her eye and she quickly pulled the squirrel out before dashing toward the camp. Hopefully she wasn't late!

She head lifted as her leader called out for a clan meeting. Her blue eyes looked around to see Ashpaw and Blizzardpaw emerging from the apprentice den. Her guess was that this time around they would be getting mentors who would teach them about clan life and of course train them to be the best warriors dawnclan had ever seen. That's what all mentors say at some point or another. It must be to raise the hopes of the apprentice. By telling them they will lead a clan one day makes them work that much harder, however why say something when it may not even happen? Not all cats could lead a clan.
She chuckled at her own thought. She noticed cats gathering around so now she knew she had to be there. She finished the thrush she had caught while on a boarder patrol and made her way over. Her pink tongue rasped over her muzzle so it looked a little better and not so greasy. Octobersky's pelt rippled as she walked. She couldn't help but strut her beauty sometimes. It just seemed to happen. She flashed cats a smile and took her place below while she waited for Roaringstar to finish the ceremony.

Blizzardpaw looked up at her leader eagerly, wondering what he was going to say. Was she and Ashpaw finally going to get their mentors? "I wonder who my mentor will be..."She thought, her green eyes looking around camp, thinking about all the possible warriors. Quickly she fastened her eyes on Roaringstar, trying to keep her mind from wandering.
OOC://Blarg. It was written in a hurry lol. Also, I wasn't sure if apprentices were told anything before the ceremony...? xD Sorry, I haven't read many of the books yet.

Dewleaf rushed into camp. After quickly putting her fresh kill into the pile, she caught her breath and settled down near Blizzardkit. She glanced around. Oh dear, almost half the clan was here already! "Hey, Blizzardkit. You're becoming an apprentice today, huh? I guess I'd better start calling you Blizzardpaw now!" She smiled. "Do you have any idea who your mentor will be?" ooc| I think they're told or at least they guess, because at exactly 6 months they turn into apprentices. The eager little buggers will be counting...

Blizzardpaw had been so absorbed with watching her leader that she jumped when she heard Dewleaf's voice next to her. "Oh! Sorry Dewleaf, I didn't see you coming!" She said, embarrassed. Quickly she started to think, "Hm..." She shook her head. "Nope. Sorry Dewleaf, I don't." She answered.
OOC://Ah, okay, thanks!

don't burn me, it'll hide my secrets. and you know you want to know<< I stumbled out of my daydream. Had someone said my name? Where was everyone going? Was something coming? No. They didn't seem to be in a hurry today... I sighed, probably a useless meeting. Nothing to do with anything. I watched Blizzardpaw leave and take her place near the rock. Since when were apprentices invited to sit soo close? I squeezed my eyes shut. THey flapped open a millisecond later. How could I have been so foolish! I got up and left immediately. Ignoring the happy glances others were shooting me. Mouse-brains, they should be casting their admiring glances up on Blizzardpaw! I cackled mentally. As I got closer to Blizzardpaw I smiled, I didn't do the whole lets-fondly-rub-against-each-other-as-if-we-were-itchy thing. No, that was mainly because I was covered in a thin silver coating, named Ash. I back off a ways, melting back into the crowd, and sat. My gaze just as opaque and unexpecting as ever. Perhaps this meeting wouldn't be useless, for me maybe, but I was sure Blizzardpaw was excited. I returned to the confused gaze the clan shot at me for backing away. I saw a few warriors mumble to each other and smirk in my direction. What was I missing? My brain had seemed all to scattered since my little meet-up with Roaringstar...[/blockquote]

Roaringstar's smile grew wide as the warriors, apprentices, elders, and queens of his Clan gathered themselves beneath the High Rock at his call. He was delighted, actually, like a new leader seeing how everyone reacted to his first call. But this, certainly, was not his first time calling the Clan to sit beneath the announcements place and hear what he had to say to them. No, it had been so many times before this that he could not recall them all at the same moment, this moment. But, no matter how many times that he had to call them, if it was for good news he would always smile like this. This grin would only fade when he had to recite some worse news, a death or some kind of skirmish between his Clan and the others.
One thing that was bringing a rather upset feel on the old leader was that he hadn't granted the apprentices their mentors yet. They had their names, Blizzardpaw and Ashpaw respectively, but the apprentices lacked the formal give of a mentor. It was kind of a nagging feeling in the back of his head that he could've been so careless. Despite this, he allowed no frown to shower down upon the ceremony that he was about to bring to the cats below him. He had no reason to be sad, at least now was the time that the two would be getting the assistance they needed in their training. Gazing down at the two from where he stood, tall and beaming from his position, he could see the two of them in the crowd. He also knew exactly which of the cats that waited for the ceremony would be granted a new apprentice.
"This sun high, we gather together to name two newly made apprentices their mentors. Blizzardpaw, come forward. From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will continue to be called Blizzardpaw. Dewleaf, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You will be mentor to Blizzardpaw. Dewleaf, you have shown yourself to be a warrior of spontaneity and kindness. I expect you to pass on everything your warriorhood has taught you too Blizzardpaw," Roaringstar smiled at the new mentor-and-apprentice couple. He hoped that he had made the right choice of character for each of them. He'd dearly hate if he had paired two felines who despised each other together.
This time he turned too Ashpaw and a small smile slipped onto his expression. She was someone that he had just recently talked too, and now knowing her name and appearance by heart, was glad that he could give her the mentor that she deserved. She certainly was an individual. "Ashpaw, come forward. She will, until she had earned her full warrior name, continue to be called Ashpaw," his eyes slipped through the crowd before landing on the one he knew would train her well. "Octobersky, you have shown yourself to be a deputy of respect and gentleness. I except everything that your past has taught you to be passed onto Ashpaw."
Roaringstar ducked his head in a momentary bow to the two new coupled apprentices and mentors. There was nothing better than doing such a flicking smile on his lips. He didn't know what else could be said, so instead waited for the rest of the Clan to begin the chant in which the two new students names would be called for their real beginning as trainees.

Blizzardpaw excitedly came forward. Her first mentor! She scrambled up towards Dewleaf and touched noses with her, a million different thoughts going through her head at once. She wanted to ask, "When are we starting training?" But she knew not to, so she just tried her best to behave. She couldn't help squirming around though, her eyes shining.
OOC:// Oh no that was short...xD

i've heard rumors of true reality. >>. when the mountains fall on their knees Beaming, I stepped forward. My eyes searching for my mentor, he knew, he remembered, her paid attention! I knew better than to squirm. I slammed my mouth closed. Finally, allowing a small, awed, Octobersky. Sparkling eyes, I knew who to look for. What luck! The deputy of the clan. The deputy! Though I hadn't really given any tip of it, Burningstar seemed to understand that though I didn't seek a high position as my life's goal, I still had a burning fire in my belly. A strong ambition to be my best. He fed the fire, and I was pleased. I was sure I looked more excited that a kit's first snow. But I didn't care, I had the right to be excited. And now that I think about it. There was soft murmuring behind me. Yes, I knew, many mothers gasping at my coat of ash. Dirty! How horrible! I couldn't help but smirk. And then looking around I asked myself, Where was Octobersky?

Dewleaf stepped up on the High Rock, a bit embarassed to be called up so soon but proud too. She purred as she touched noses with Blizzardpaw, glad to have an apprentice, and then bounded back down when that was all over.
ooc| Post fail, sorry ._.

Octobersky nodded. She had a strange feeling it would be her to mentor one of these frisky kits. She moved forward to find her apprentice Ashpaw. When she spotted the younger cat, her charcoal nose touched hers. A warm smile formed softly on her muzzle but it slowly faded.Indeed she had wanted to mentor Blizzardpaw, there was something about that cat that just made her smile. However this was her apprentice and she would mentor her."Congrats, you have joined the ranks of the apprentice. You might think training is rather bland, however you will thank me one day when you are in the heat of a battle or war and you use the skills you learned in training." Her tone was soft and whisper like. Being mysterious was one thing she enjoyed to do.

i've heard rumors of true reality. >>. when the mountains fall on their knees Blushing in pleasure I smiled, a small burst rushed through me as our noses collided as planned. But I could tell that there were others she would have rather mentored, or, well... Blizzardpaw persay. It didn't matter. And I was prepared, of course training was going to boring! My ashy pelt shook in the blustering wind, smiling with no regret I added, telling she enjoyed a sense of mystery, Nothings boring. the tremor in my voice was sudden, quick, sure... Confidence, it would get me through anything. I tipped my head sideways and smiled my quirky grin, that everyone but I appreciated.
