The dawn was opening slowly, casting the orange light of the early morning upon the forest, making the budding trees beautiful. Taking no notice of this, Longpelt crept slowly towards the mouse he was hunting, carefully and skillfully putting one paw in front of the other. "Slowly, slowly, almost..." Just then the mouse saw him and started to run. But it was too late. Longpelt started to run, his powerful legs pumping. With one small leap he caught the mouse, dealing a killing bite to the back of the neck.
He purred slightly as the smell of fresh kill wafted upward. He then checked himself and took the kill to his small but growing pile and covered it up with dirt. He stood up, stretched, yawning, then started to continue his hunt.
OOC://Yikes, I don't know the proper...terms...so I just kinda guessed. XD Also, is my font hard to read? 'Cause if it is I'll change it.

Dewleaf crouched under a bush. She had decided to hunt for a little, you know, to wake her up in the morning. She was still a bit drowsy though. A rustle sounded in front of her. Was it a mouse? A squirrel? A bird? Whatever it was, it was prey, and prey was to be caught... It was moving on. She had to be quick. She leaped out of the brush, and landed on top of--not a mouse, not a squirrel, not a bird--a cat. "Eeks! I'm so sorry, Longpelt!" Dewleaf scrambled off of the young warrior, embarassed at her mistake.

Longpelt felt a sudden great weight on his back, knocking him down and out of breath. However, he didn't lose his mind for a second. He jumped up and spun around, unsheathing his claws and and growling. Then he heard it. Not the sound of an enemy cat growling, but the voice of a fellow clan cat. He started, then growled again and sheathed his claws. "What are you doing here Dewleaf?" He growled threateningly. His eyes narrowed, almost closing his scarred eye.
OOC://Wow that was horrible...but I was in a hurry...so...yeah. XD

"Ah, well, I was hunting, and...I...thought you..were a...mouse?" Her voice squeaked toward the end. She wasn't used to dealing with mean cats, being the softie she was. It was a bit sad, really, being scolded by a warrior younger than she...
ooc| Nu! I think yer a wonderful RPer! Don't say that -slap-

Longpelt couldn't help but snicker. "So you thought I was a mouse?" He said sarcastically, bending down to study her((being tall and all...xD)), and suddenly remembered she was older than himself. "Oh, fine, I guess I owe her some respect. It IS a pity though. She would've been so fun to tease..."He shook his head and straightened himself up and stretched, yawning again. Finishing yawning, he then proceeded to lick his paw and use it to wash his ear, completely at his ease. "Well, now that you're here, want to hunt?" He asked, knowing it wouldn't be expected of him, Longpelt, of all cats.

Dewleaf looked up (and by looked up, she had to look quite high up) at the tom in surprise. Wasn't it he who had snapped at her for making a simple mistake and replied oh so rudely to her? Had some other nicer tom come and swapped places with him? She felt a twinge in her, and realized it was her stomach and not her mood. "Oh, fine," she replied, half grumbling. Her jaws parted to taste the air. Hopefully she wouldn't catch another cat this time.

Longpelt grinned to himself at the look of surprise Dewleaf gave him. Then, having finished washing his ear, he said, "Alright, you can go first, if you want. I don't want you jumping on me again." While he said this had a mischievous, almost mean, look in his eyes. "Hm, I hate this being nice and respectful stuff. Ah well. At least I don't have to be REAL nice."
OOC:// XD I love the end of your post, it makes me lol every time I read it for some reason. ...Dang mine was short. XD

Dewleaf didn't pause to ponder on what Longpelt said. She immediately parted her jaws after he finished speaking, and scented...nothing. "Hey, let's go up here," she mewed, motioning her tail at the abandoned Twoleg nest. "I heard somewhere that there are lots of mice in that Twoleg nest! And it's abandoned so nothing will bother us." Without waiting for a reply, she ran forward.

Longpelt growled slightly. "What is it with these she-cats?" He thought to himself. Then what she said suddenly sunk in. "Hey, wait!" He yelled, easily catching up with her. "Are you sure it's safe? ...Er, I mean, I don't want a scared cat with me while I'm hunting!" He added, afraid she might know...No, he wasn't scared. That was impossible. She was the one who was showing off while she was actually scared...Right?

"Of course I'm not scared! It's just a Twoleg house and it doesn't even have any Twolegs in it. It should be totally safe." She had forgot to mention to Longpelt that before she came to Dawnclan, she had lived with a bunch of Twolegs. She didn't particularly like them, but she knew that house-Twolegs were nothing to fear. "Hurry up, you big furball, I can smell something good in there already."
She glanced at the hesitating tom and surpressed a snicker. "Don't tell me you're actually scared of them!"

Longpelt stiffened. "Of course I'm not scared of them!" He snorted. "They're just a bunch of dumb, clumsy Twolegs!" He said, as if assuring himself. He shook his head and followed Dewleaf, hoping he was right. "So...You been here before?" He asked warily. "I hope she knows what she's doing..."

"Nah, I've never been here before. I can still see some familiar things, though." She opened her jaws. "Yep, lots of prey here. Hopefully we can manage them." Poking her nose through a box with doors in it, she jumped back, surprised, as a wave of mice came through. "Erk!" she muttered, and tried stepping on as many of them as she could. When the swarm was gone, about 3 were left on the floor. "Nothin' to it," she said, and picked up the mice. Suddenly, a reeking smell met her nostrils and she recoiled. Looking back inside the box, she meowed, disgusted, "Ugh, it's some sort of dead crowfood thing. I wonder how the mice manage." There was a skeleton about the size of a small badger or cat, its flesh picked almost clean off the bones, its hollow eyes staring straight at them.
ooc| In case you can't tell, the "box" is a cabinet. xD

Longpelt came forward cautiously, keeping eyes and ears open. "Ugh, what is it?" He asked, peering into the box. "It looks so...dead. And it smells," here he paused and grimaced, "disgusting!" He looked around him, inspecting the Twoleg nest. "Hey, why do you think they left?" He asked, almost all fear gone in his wonder. He suddenly realized he had been acting out of character and promptly resumed his meanness. "So, Dewleaf, where exactly did you hear that this nest was abandoned?" His eyes narrowed suspiciously. "And you seem like you've hunted here before, what were you doing near Twoleg place before?" He asked nastily.
OOC://I'm sorry...Longpelt is a very suspecting cat XD

"Of course it's dead! Would you rather that pile of bones be alive?" Then Longpelt narrowed his eyes and asked his rather rude question.
"Well, it's obvious. There are no monsters anywhere near this Twoleg nest, and I don't think I've ever seen a monster on the Thunderpath leading to this nest either." Dewleaf was calm, despite the harsh tones in Longpelt's accusing voice.
Deciding to change the subject, she mewed, "Come on, we're only going to bring back three measly mice if we keep standing around chatting like this." She momentarily stepped outside and buried her catches underneath the Twoleg's doorsteps. Darting back inside, she raced further into the nest, arriving at a place that had obviously been used as a fresh-kill storehouse but left by itself when the Twolegs disappeared. All the food had wasted away by now.

Longpelt frowned. Why was she so...strange? He just couldn't understand it. Well, anyways, she had a point. He turned and went the opposite way of Dewleaf. "Well, where's that-" He stopped suddenly, staring ahead. He had seen movement, and had heard a rustling noise. He instantly dropped into his best hunting crouch, and started to creep up to it. It saw him and froze, then started running. Longpelt easily caught up and dealt it a killing blow.
